Solar System: Solar Panels, Inverter and Battery Storage System with EV Charger

Specifications: 8.2Kwp system, 8kW inverter with 15kWh battery storage and EV charger.

The customer wanted a good-sized solar system with battery storage that suited their daily electricity needs. Additionally, during the same installation process, they also wanted an EV charger installed. After initial discussions on the phone, we conducted a site visit, where we considered all possible solutions for this project. After understanding the customer needs, we determined the best sized system based on the customer’s annual electricity readings to provide the best value-for-money option.

Once accepted, we then applied, on behalf of the customer, to the DNO (Northern Powergrid) for permission to install the proposed system. After a few weeks, we received the required permissions and were ready to install.

This project presented a few challenges!

The EV charger was to be located at one side of the property on an outbuilding, whilst the solar inverter and battery were to be at the other. To enable all elements of this system to work together, we used a bridging unit, that allows you to transmit data from one location to another without the need for any cabling and installed two new consumer units

In total, this project took the team four days on-site to install.
