The customer was in the process of building a house extension and wanted to install a solar system, including battery storage. During a site visit, we discussed several options, checked all cable routes, took required measurements, and annual usage so that we could size the installation correctly. We then applied for DNO permissions on behalf of the customer. Once the required permissions from the DNO had been granted, we were ready to begin.
Due to the extension being built, we split the installation into two phases. The first phase was to install the in-roof solar panels. There were a total of 19 panels, 12 on one side of the roof, and 7 on the opposite side. We made sure the roof tiles were marked on the roof, so that everyone involved knew exactly were to install the roof trays. We then run the solar wires through the loft space and into the yet to be built garage space, ready for phase 2 of the install.
Several months later, we returned to install the inverter and batteries in the garage. The customer was able to use the finished system on the same day and utilised an off-peak electricity tariff to charge up the 20kWh of storage during the night at 7p per unit, which lasts throughout the day.
