EV Charger Installation

This customer wanted an EV charger installing - there was only one problem. The consumer unit was at the front of the house, and the charger needed to be at the back! We spent a little time looking at possible cable routes, then after discussion with the customer, decided on the route. The cable run was approximately 45m. After performing necessary cable calculations to check compliance, we ordered and installed the correct cable. This started at the front of the house, went outside, up the wall, into an upstairs room, into one of two loft spaces, then dropped down into another loft space via a cupboard, then onto the outside wall at the back of the house, into the correct position. It took most of the day to install this cable!

We installed a new dedicated consumer unit and a white Hypervolt charger at the back of the house. We connected the charger to the internet, commissioned and tested it. As with all our chargers (and required by DNO) we registered it with Northern Powergrid, issued an electrical installation certificate and notified local building control at the council.
